Seeking New Kingdom Earl Marshal Deputy
Greetings Calontir from your Kingdom Earl Marshal!
With Gulf Wars behind us, and the beginning of the second half of my term, the time has come to for me to look towards taking a deputy or two.
If you are a Marshal (of any martiallate activity) and are interested in seeing how things work at a higher level, please feel free to put in a Letter of Intent! I will be taking letters for the next 30 days, and will set up interviews after the deadline.
The only requirement I have for this position is being a Warranted Marshal in any of the Martiallate styles and a willingness to learn! It is important to note thay there will be no expectations put on any Deputy KEM as far as future commitments, as this is an opportunity to learn the “behind the scenes” administration duties and maybe get a better idea of how things happen at that level.
For letters of intent, please include Name, Martial activities you participate in and length of time in the activity, and also why you are interested in the position. Letters should be sent to [email protected].

Letters of Intent for Spring 2025 Crown Tourney
A correction (wrong year) from the March 2025 issue of The Mews
As per kingdom law, Letters of Intent must be submitted at least two weeks prior to the tournament, which means the deadline is March 29, 2025.
The tournament will follow a best weapons style, and a shield no longer than your arm span.
In your Letter of Intent, please include the following details:- Background in the SCA (such as how long you have been a member, any offices you have held, current activities).
- Proof of membership (a copy of your membership card and a photo of your driver’s license).
- List of events you have attended over the last 6 months
- Contact information (email address and phone number).
- Mailing address.
- Why would you like to fight in the Crown Tournament?

New Armored Combat Assistant Deputy
Attention all populace members, warriors and defenders of the realm! I am pleased to introduce the newest addition to our esteemed Armored Combat Marshallate team: Ragnar MacArthur!
Mundanely known as Richard Carter, Ragnar will be assuming the role of Assistant Deputy to the Kingdom Armored Combat Marshal. With his exceptional skill in combat and unwavering dedication to the protection of our kingdom, Ragnar will be a valuable leader in upholding the honor and integrity of our noble traditions, while using his experiences to help us move forward as a community.
Ragnar’s new position will include the following:
- Be the emergency backup for the KACM
- May make decisions and answer questions on rules, armor, and weapons, adding another level to the chain of command.
- Expected to know and understand the rules as they are currently written, but also be an advocate for change, if necessary.
- Assist in any and all aspects of the KACM job, including but not limited to :
- Recieve and check reports,
- Helping create ongoing training for marshals,
- Verify fighters are informed and educated on new rules, etc.
- Be a backup marshal at any event or practice,
- Poll fighters and have a good understanding of the current Calontir Armored Combat culture.
- Write and edit current Calontir Armored Combat rules.
Please join me in welcoming Ragnar as he takes on this important role, and together, let us continue our commitment to safeguarding the kingdom with courage and valor!

Gulf Steel Updates
Calontir!
Gulf is nigh. With that, a few things to be aware of.
1, I am unable to make it this year. Thus, my on site deputy is HL Kennocht. He will be running point in inspections. Please be nice to him, we are very grateful for his help.
2, I am allowing a one time, gulf specific variance for rubber band guns. If you have one, you are welcome to bring it.
3, There are some small but relevant kingdom rules updates. Notably, you will notice that the text for armor standards has changed. You are no longer expected to armor to the Calontiri C&T standards for armor in rapier. This specifically means, for rapier battles, you can expose arms/legs, you no longer need padded protection on hands/elbows, and you do not need a back of the head protector. Take a look, and let me know if you have any questions.Please take this time before war to go over your gear, make sure everything is in working order, and make sure you have access to your fighter cards. Print them out before you leave, you may be asked to show it at some point onsite, and it would suck to wait til the last minute and not be able to do it after all.
