Call for Letters of Intent – Kingdom Armored Combat Marshal

Letters Due: January 15th, 2026 by 11:59 PM CST

The Kingdom of Calontir is seeking applications for the position of Kingdom Armored Combat Marshal (KACM), a senior martial office responsible for the leadership, safety, and integrity of armored combat throughout the realm. This position serves as a key deputy to the Kingdom Earl Marshal and carries the full authority of the marshalate in matters related to heavy combat.

The successful candidate will assume the mantle of chief safety officer for the Calontir armored combat community – upholding our standards, supporting our fighters and marshals, and safeguarding the honor and chivalry of the field.

About the Position

The KACM is responsible for:

  • Enforcing Society and Kingdom rules for armored combat
  • Leading and mentoring the Kingdom marshalate
  • Approving and supervising marshals-in-charge at events
  • Serving as the Acting Marshal-in-Charge for all Calontir Crown Tournaments
  • Coordinating with the Crown, KEM, event stewards, and local groups
  • Standardizing armor/weapons inspections and field safety practices
  • Reporting regularly to the KEM and Crown
  • Promoting a safe, inclusive, and chivalric combat environment
  • Overseeing equipment standards, experimental approvals, and incident investigations

Applicant Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Be a warranted armored combat marshal in good standing
  • Have strong familiarity with Society and Calontir heavy combat standards
  • Demonstrate clear leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Be able to make timely, fair, and safety-centered decisions
  • Have the ability to support, train, and supervise marshals across the Kingdom

Preferred experience includes serving as MIC at events, prior marshalate leadership, and comfort presenting training or rules instruction.

Term of Office

  • Standard term: Two years (renewal possible)
  • Reports directly to the Kingdom Earl Marshal
  • Appointment subject to Kingdom Law and approval by the Crown

  1. SCA Name and Modern Name
  2. Membership Number & Expiration Date
  3. Marshal Warrant Status and Experience
  4. Relevant Event/Marshal-in-Charge Experience
  5. Leadership or Teaching Experience
  6. Vision for the Calontir armored combat community
  7. Why you are interested in serving as KACM
