    I just noticed that the Wiki page for CalonCon says the Heralds meeting starts at 3pm instead of its actual starting time of 2pm.

    By the way, anyone who's interested in seeing how the Calontir College of Heralds works is invited to join us. At 2pm 🙂

  • Heralds at CalonCon

    Greetings all!

    Our CalonCon meeting is from 2pm to no later than 5pm. I hope to be done sooner, but that's how long I made the Zoom meeting.
    It shouldn't ask, but just in case:

    Here's my anticipated agenda:

    1. Heraldry is cool!
    2. My focus is on recruitment and enthusiasm, because while our heralds are great, we need more.
    3. As part of recruitment, we need a better path to Red Hawk, Eyas, Saker, and other mare advanced titles, so we need to improve training.
    4. Shoshanah is new Habicht. Please give her whatever help you can.
    5. I propose to reactivate the Kite, Sparrow Hawk, and Harrier herald titles for newer heralds to get experience. Exact roles up to the Gold Falcon based upon anticipated need to replace folks.
    6. Ask heralds in offices to actively seek for and train a replacement/deputy. These recruits may help fill above reactivated heraldic titles.
    7. Dyrfinna would like to talk about how paying for submissions has changed.
    8. Preventing Burnout.
    9. Heralds retreat. Thoughts of when and where.
    10. Where do we want to see the College of Heralds go?
    11. Next Gold Falcon and other anticipated job openings.

  • June Virtual newcomers class this Tuesday!

    Greetings Calontir!

    This Tuesday, June 25,2024, will be our virtual “Heraldry in the SCA” class. Joining information will be below.
    Shoshanah bas Nachan Will be taking us through an introduction to heraldry including how it is used in the SCA, what a heraldic display is, what a device is and how to get one, and much much more. 
    We of course will have time at the end of class  for any questions about the class, the SCA in general, or our beloved Calontir. All are welcome, the more the merrier. Afterall the move people we have ,the more experiences we have to draw on to help our newcomers. So please consider joining us.

  • 2024 CalonCon, Virtual Chatelaine Meeting!

    Greetings Calontir!

    Below you will find the joining information for the 2024 CalonCon Chatelaine meeting. 
    What you need to know:
    -Chatelaines, Seneschals, or anyone interested in working with newcomers are most welcome! 
    -The meeting is listed as being from 9AM to 11AM, we will actually end at 10:45AM to allow anyone needing to attend the seneschal meeting at 11:00AM to have a break before their next class.
    -We will be going over the basics of the job of Chatelaine, discussing where our office currently stands and where it's going, Informing everyone what the change to Great Officer means for each of us, and hopefully having time for some Question and Answer round table discussion.

    Below you will find the information to join our June @Getting Started@ virtual class designed to introduce people to @Heraldry in the SCA@. 
    All are welcome, whether you are a newcomer or just interested in learning more or helping guide our newcomers on their journeys in the SCA and Calontir.
